Joanne’s work is varied with the majority being produced through collage. Materials range from the traditional such as silverpoint and egg tempera in comparison with Polaroid film, acetate and three dimensional elements. The subject matter has the common theme of transmogrification and ritual. This is seen through the pictorial narration of Nightmares. The study of organic firm and matter reforming into semi – surreal landscapes that shift the everyday perception of place. Pattern influences ritual mark making and along with a large resource of collected objects to work from and the experimentation with scale lead the final results to see the everyday in an altered perspective.
