Ruth’s mixed-media paperscapes and paintings are inspired by the sounds from instruments at live gigs. Intrigued by how to to capture the sounds of music in visible form, her practice now includes an enquiry into ‘drawing the nearly not there…’ It is visible in her Shadow Works, with the shadows thrown onto canvas to create a fleeting extra dimension to studies of seed pods, chimney pots and ordinary things.
