This week, CAS (Chapel Arts Studios) launches BLOCK_CHAIN THE POWER OF TWO and its website http://block-chain.chapelartsstudios.co.uk.
Starting on Tuesday 9 January 2018, BLOCK_CHAIN THE POWER OF TWO brings together 15 artists to interact and respond to the subject of dissent be that political, personal environmental, societal, or material dissent.
BLOCK_CHAIN is a series of innovative and collaborative two week, residencies online. Artists will work in pairs to produce individual, yet relational work, which probes their interpretation of the theme ‘dissent’. Digital images will be exhibited on Instagram with the hashtag #BlockChainDissentArt serving as a potential prompt for subsequent artists. A generative and relational output of digital images and observational writing will culminate in a symposium on the theme of dissent at Winchester Gallery, Winchester School of Art.
This 8 week project running from 9 January – 8 March was designed by CAS Associate Susan Francis to expand upon CAS’ emerging dissent methodology and engage artists and audiences in our ongoing dialogue through creative experimentation, observation and discussion.
We invite you to follow this project on social media using the hashtag #BlockChainDissentArt, and on the website http://block-chain.chapelartsstudios.co.uk.
