Truth or DARE is an invitation for artists with an established socially engaged practice to come together, share their work, push boundaries and learn from each other. This event, hosted by Chapel Arts Studios (CAS) in collaboration with NewRED, aims to create a platform for exchange amongst professional artists, to explore the potential of collaborative actions and investigate the relationships that are encouraged or provoked through artistic encounters. We look forward to welcoming you to this immersive, thought provoking and playful day of self-reflection at NewRED Studios, Salisbury on 20 October 2018. You can expect to benefit from a mutual exchange of energy and information.
The format of the day is inspired by Laurence Dube-Rushby’s ongoing PHD research into creative pedagogies. Following a short introduction to her D-DARE methodology, Laurence will invite artists to consider what self-reflection and group sharing reveals about the truth of social practice, and how artists might use these insights to enrich their art practice and social works.
CAS will cover the event on their website and social media channels, promoting the participating artists and their contributions to the unfolding dialogue on the day. As part of the event you will experience presentations and talks by artists/organisations, a bring and share networking lunch, and Me, You, My Practice and Them: an exploration of pertinent questions, and a group investigation into the impact of social practice through challenges and actions’. There will also be a Pecha Kucha session with 6 selected participating artists (the opportunity to deliver one will be offered to participating artists once a place is accepted).
This peer-to-peer learning opportunity is for established artists with a consistent social practice.
This event is designed by Laurence Dube-Rushby a socially engaged artist, currently undertaking a PHD in creative pedagogies at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). Participating artists will need to sign a consent form in order that photographs and quotes from the day can be used in subsequent media. If you don’t want your face shown, bring a mask 😉
