Tom Mortimer

Tom is a Fine artist working across various disciplines, encompassing a range of media; digital and analogue drawing, print, painting, installation, video, animation, sound and sculpture. His work focuses on a running theme of representation.

Critiquing the idea of the fictional and non-fictional divisions. As the domestic and media channels we occupy or encounter are sampled and reworked to expose a haunting energy of utilised alienation or seduction towards the other worldly or Uncanny. Bleak but with a childish optimism and sense of play; the rough characteristics of his work, as if it were an experiment, sketch or post-apocalyptic artefact, grant a strangely endearing raw presence and expose or allude to the art piece as the product of a process.
