David, Dawn and Maija had a management meeting at CAS today to talk through R&D progress. Yonat was also present. Chester was working at the studio so he decided to sit in and listen. When we touched on the Dissent and creative play activities Associates have participated in, and the history of 1am.
During the meeting we recorded an impromptu ‘podcast’ just for you, CAS Associates
It’s a relaxed conversation suitable for listening to with a drink at your elbow. It will help fill in some gaps about how the Associates were started, and how we’re growing. The main topic of discussion was Dave’s 1AM methodology. It’s significance, and adoption has become increasingly significant over the years – through practice – but we have not talked about it much.
Here is a break down what is covered in the audio:
0.01min – David talks about ideas behind setting up the CAS Associates, including the AM framework
5.39min – Dawn talks about the Laboratory of Dissent, an AM re-iteration
14min – Maija says ‘we need you…’
16.00min – David talks about how his practice has informed his approach to CAS including great lessons about failure, control, and integrity
23.13min – Yonat talks about 1AM as a methodology, and the need for Dave to write something down, so its clear what the starting point is. A discussion about referencing systems used by CAS Associates incl. crediting ideas and images.
29.50 – Wrapping up, and conclusions.
